The only Maidenhead I know is in Berkshire and about 120 miles from Lammas. Do you have any evidence to suggest that your lass, if she had been born by the time of the 1861 census, would be in Norfolk?

The actual main purpose of the index is to provide an aid to others in looking up the entries for themselves using the census CDs, or at a record centre.

Have you tried seaching for her birth in the GRO index? If not, and you are not sure how to do so, please ask. You have a birthplace for this person, do you have this detail from a later census (e.g. 1871)? If so, and you have the parents names, you might try looking for them with greater success.
