I wondered if someone can tell me anything about Frears and Blacks the bakery. My first job was working here in 1960 and I noticed when I came back to Leicester for a holiday it was no longer in this name, did they go under or merged with another firm? we used to have a great range of breads and cakes and I loved those electric vans could get up a speed going down hills good old days |help|

I have just put Frears and Blacks into the search box of Access to Archives (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/), and received 71 hits. The records are held at the Leicestershire Records Office (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archon/searches/locresult_details.asp?LR=56). Perhaps a swift email to them with specific questions could bring forth some information.
