dob conformation

Hello.

Can anyone tell me how I would be able to confirm my great grandfathers dob? I have a birth certificate but I have my doubts if this is the right one.

I have no records of his service for the great eastern rail co or merchant seaman times.

He rented a property in London c1909. Where else can I look to be totally confident I have the right dob?
