could any one tell me if there was any workhouses in beverley about 1900 onwards kind regards

Hello Tracy,

If you have a browse of workhouses.org.uk and you will be able to find all details about the one at Beverley. Apparently, it was taken over as a hospital in 1939 and after 1948, the site became known as Westwood Hospital.

Very few records of Beverley Union have survived. If your interest is in staff rather than inmates you may have more luck. Responsibility for workhouses (now renamed) passed to local authorities in 1930.
