I have a birth certificate for Levia Law b 8 august 1838 in Park St Leicester.
She died the same quarter.
Where would burials have taken place at this time?
I have the Welford rd burials cd but they are from 1849-1950.

Welford Road was Leicester's first municipal cemetery. It finally opened in 1849 after disagreements between Anglicans and dissenters on the Council. Presumably before then burials took place in local chuchyards, the new graveyard's purpose being the alleviate the over-crowding in these Victorian city churchyards. We need a 19th century map of Leicester showing all the churches which had churchyards, and find which was nearest to the address on the death certificate.

Have you checked GenUKI?

http://www.genuki.org.uk/

There's a mine of information there including how to find out about Leicester burials and a listing of which churches were operating in 1838 (fewer than you may think).
