Hi

Do any listers have connections with BARTRAMs in the Eakring and Ollerton parishes in the 1800-1860s?

I am also interested in whether there are any trasncripts of parish records for these parishes available?

Any help gratefully received,

Ivor
Herefordshire

Christine,

Thanks very much for matches - a great help.

I assume the CD does not include hatches and dispatches for the parishes in question as you do not list any.

Cheers and thanks again

Ivor

Ivor,

That's bizarre, I added more than we can see now. There were no baptisms (which is odd in itself) but these burials

I have no Bartram connections , but I do live in Eakring and have records that may be of interest to you.

In order to help you I would need to know your particular Eakring
ancestor(s).

If you reply, it will be a little time before I will be able to reply to you.

Dear Derek,

Thanks for your offer and my apologies for delays in replying. I am presently travelling in Cambodia and it is not always easy to find the where-with-all to respond.

My Eakring connection is to a Jane Johnson (from Eakring) who married Joseph Bartram (from Otterham) on 18 June 1843 in Eakring. Her father was a John Johnson - wheelwright. That is about as much as I know I am afraid. Any further info from your end would be great,

Thanks

Dear Derek,

I am descended from Thomas Bartram born Eakring 1845, who lived in Sheffield from 1860s on, son of John (carter by occupation).
I suspect John did not go to Sheffield too.

Any assistance you can give , regarding John and family, will be very much appreciated,

Thanks,

John

Dear John

I don't find any connections between your Thomas and my Joseph but probably is one some where I suspect - we could well be distant cousins,

Happy hunting and if I come across a Thomas I'll let you know,

HI Ivor. Thanks for your reply. I dont know anything at all about the Bartram side of my family in Eakring. Although I`ve been at it since 1978 I haven`t tried with Bartrams till now!
Likewise, I`ll keep an eye out, in future, for any links between us.
As you say, we are probably related somewhere.
Thanks again,
John Marrison

I am researching Walkers of Eakring. My grandfather was Arthur Walker, son of John William Walker, who was the son of William Walker (christened on 23 January 1831 at Eakring) and Anne Mellors (they married at Eakring 29 November 1853).

William was the son of William and Elizabeth (nee ? ) Walker, but there were so many Williams then that I can't find the right couple. However the line then goes back to William Walker and Ellen Hurt who married 16 August 1759.

Any information as to the missing links would be welcome.

Although I am a Walker, I am not an Eakring Walker by background.

However, I do have available a monograph on the Eakring Walkers, of which I would be happy to let you have a copy (at no charge of course), but the shortcoming of this type of site seems to me to be that it is impossible to communicate directly with a correspondent - unless of course I fail to understand the mechanics!

Many thanks Derek for your reply. I would love to receive the monograph of the Eakring Walkers you have. Like you I am not sure how this can be done.
Perhaps if I contact the administrators of the site they will advise.

However, I have accessed the Eakring St Andrews website on occasion and found that very interesting. Maybe I could forward a self-addressed envelope to you care of St Andrews vicarage. If you think this would work, please let me know.

Don't bother with the SAE and please don't address to the (former) Rectory.
A message left on the Eakring vilage website would reach me and I could take it from there.

I'm sure that you will be interested in the monograph - I just hope that it doesn't take too much fun away from your search. By the way, there is still a Walker presence in the village, but the relationship will be distant.

Derek

Dear Derek,

As the originator of this thread my message of some time back (quoted below) seems to have got lost somewhere along the line. As I say I am trying to find anything about John Johnson (wheelwright) and his daughter Jane. Jane and Joseph Bartram were my 2x great grandparents.

From the 1841 census for Eakring I calculate John Johnson to have been born between 1781 and 1785 and Joseph Bartram was at that time an Apprentice to his future father in law I think.

Any assistance would be much appreciated in finding BMDs for the Johnsons in Eakring.

Thanks

Ivor
