Hiya
Considering the date, I believe this would fall under the original 1560 list (there were later revisions) which states ...
"Wherein whosoever are related are forbidden in scripture and our laws to marry together
A Man may not marry his
Grandmother
Step-Grandmother
Grandmother-in-Law
Aunt
Aunt-in-Law
Mother
Step-Mother
Mother-in-Law
Daughter
Step-Daughter
Daughter-in-Law
Sister
Sister-in-Law
Granddaughter
Granddaughter-in-Law
2Step-Granddaughter
Niece
Niece-in-Law"
Surprisingly, no cousins are mentioned, nor are half aunts. Half nieces are implicitly included with their full counterparts.
I may of course be wrong, but it looks a little as if the cousin marriage may have been ok, but the half niece marriage a little dubious.

The ability to marry between persons who are related are covered by the so called 'prohibited degrees'.
From 'Ancestral Trails' by Mark Herber:
The prohibitions prevented someone marrying his or her:
(a) brother or sister (or their spouse)
(b) parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, child or grandchild (or their spouse)
(c) niece or nephew (or their spouse)
(d) spouse's child, grandchild, parent, uncle, aunt, uncle or grandparent.
Guy Etchells who posts on the Forum has a very informative page on his website (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~framland/acts/affinity.htm) that deals with the subject including the various changes to the prohibitions.

I think that quite often it is the `idiots' that produce such wonderful information. ;) Being idiots, they have no concept of time, thus they spend hours gathering together information that may at some stage, be useful to other people. (According to my husband who can't see why I bother)!
Don't give up Guy! :)
