ok i have now found my charles wentworth who is my great great grand dad, and i have come across this info about him

ADM 157/41/897 Folios 897-900. Charles Wentworth,
born Surrey. Attestation papers to serve in the
Royal Marines at Chatham 1845 (when aged 24).
Discharged 1865 as Penal Servitude 5 years. 1845-1865


so what do i do now or do i have to go to kew to get that infomation? or perhaps can someone else photocopy it for me and then send?

i dont know how kew works and what is allowed or not, so any advise would be gratefully recieived

You've obviously found your way around the catalogue. You have presumably clicked on 'your' entry. Now simply click the "Request This" button.

Then make your choice. Printed is the cheapest. Digital is for those who can't wait ;)

I you look at the top right hand you will see request this if you click on it.

Click on Go for Digital Express

Select Service

Add to shopping

Checkout

Peter - it was more of good luck than management!!!!! i just hit the search button and put is name in and it was the first entry that came up being the correct man!!! how lucky is that?

Click on Go for Digital Express


She actually has a choice of Digital or Printed. It's her money :)

no thats fine and thanks jilly, but like many at the mo cash is very tight, eating and heating being the main priority for now, not chasing dead people!!!!!

I had 3 army records sent to me digitally, and they give you an estimate of cost first. Mine cane to a few pounds for all 3 records.

That's good, I did this the other day, typed in an ancestors surname, press search and hey presto there he was, paid my money and downloaded, all in about ten minutes, I couldn't wait, although they allow 56 days for it to be downloaded, gave a bit of a description as well, colour of hair, eyes and what the height was, year of birth where born. Terrific.

I wasn't knocking you. Just trying to make sure the questioner was aware of the available options.
