Would it be possible for someone who lives in Derby and can do a lookup at their nearest record office, look in an old newspaper covering Derby for about 1867 do a look up for me?
My gt grandfather worked as a travelling postman on the railway, I should think between Derby and London, had an accident during his work when he injured his head (twice) for which he was paid compensation, in both instances he was paid the sum of £40 (quite a large amount I would think in that year.)
As he lived in Derby, I am wondering if it would have been mentioned in a local paper,
and possibly the newspaper in question, could be in the local record office?
If this is so, can anyone help me by doing a search?
I am disabled and unable to travel to the newspaper museum in London, I would be very grateful if anyone could kindly help me out.
