Hi all,
My greatx4 grandfather Richard Yeates/Yates died in Winchcombe workhouse in 1871 but lived most of his life in Guiting Power (Gloucs).
I have his death certificate and at the top it states parish of Guiting, so what i want to know is where will he be buried Wichcombe or Guiting Power?
Dave.

Hello Dave,

You may find it best to check both Wichcombe and Guiting Power burial registers. It really depends upon the circumstances of the individual and whether or not there is still family around.

I have people who died in the Saffron Walden (Essex) workhouse, but who were returned to their home parish of Castle Camps (Cambridgeshire) 5 miles away for burial. The burial records for Castle Camps actually stated that the person died in the Saffron Walden workhouse, which was rather helpful...

Good luck,

Hi

Have you tried workhouse death registers for the time frame? Not all have survived for all workhouses but sometimes a death register can give clues as to burial, ie if the workhouse paid for it etc.
