If anyone has access to the 1851 for the Wath upon Dearne area I could do with some help! In 1883 Harriett Bennett married John Mawson in Mexborough. My notes from the parish records say that he was a widower aged 39. On the 1861 he is an apprentice in Sandygate and in 1881 he is with his first wife Jane in Wath High Street a tailor by trade. I would appreciate it if anyone can find him on the 1851 Census - according to the marriage record his father was also John Mawson but I can find no record of his baptism in the Parish Records although there is a baptism of John son of Mary Mawson... His age is fairly constant on the census records I have found ... 18 in 1861, 37 in 1881, 47 in 1891 and 58 in 1901 so one would suppose that he ought to be 7 or 8 in 1851. Thanks in advance!
