Has anyone come across any descriptions of a village butcher's premises of the first half of the nineteenth century?
Would they have been likely to have had some sort of "Shop front"? or sales from the slaughter yard or delivered?

Was apprenticeship common in the country areas?

The first record I have of one of my ancestors was as tenant of his uncle, renting a house, orchard & slaughteryard in Henstridge Somerset c 1830 when he was 30. He also appears in the local directory for that year.Would there be likely to be any apprenticeship records? Where?
Any help appreciated
