Hi, does anyone know where I can research documents relating to Hemsley Workhouse. |bowdown|
I am interested in the year 1867, in particular births.

Cheers

According to workhouses.org.uk, Teesside Archives (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/Teesside Archives, Exchange House, 6 Marton Road, Middlesbrough TS1 1DB. Sole holdings are Guardians' minutes (1837-67).) is the place to contact. But their sole holdings are the Guardians minutes (1837-67) for Helmsley Workhouse.

Gibson's "Poor Law Union Records" confirms what Jan says. There will also be documents at the National Archives but they would be mainly administrative stuff.
