I am searching for any records of my Great Grandfather William James Munro.

From his service record (405th seige battery, Royal Garrison Artillery) and his wedding certificate I know that he was born around 1889 in Crobane near Newry. His father's name was also William James Munro (bricklayer).

My Great Grandfather's service number was 39728. He was killed in action on 29th July 1917 in France and is buried in Bailleul Communial Cemetery Nord.

Family lore has it that the family were Protestant.

I have searched through various Parish Records for Newry at my local LDS Family History Centre to no avail.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

You can get his birth cert. easy enough.

Google Northern Ireland birth certs. I only deal with certs in the Republic.

Good luck.
