HM 47th regiment in India

I would be interested in any info.on the above regiment as I have a quartermaster sgt Henry Bailes who served in this regiment and died in Fort William in 1827.I would like to know where he served and where the regiment was based in England,which might help me to find where to look for his birth,also whether it is possible to find out how he died.
