Hi People,

First post on here :)

I've been researching my Grandads life and times and have recently found a story about his time in the RAF. Does anybody know what the badge is that is mentioned in the paragraph below? What it looked like?

"The badge. That was an RAF VR motif lapel badge cast in white metal. Probably, it cost no more than six pence to produce. The WAF dipped into an old cardboard box, handing me my badge, very irreverently. It could have been the VC, as I felt at that moment. Thus I was 1589948. AC2. Buckley E. Pending call up. I remember that WAF saying to me, “What are you looking so pleased at?”. My honest answer was “You’ll never know what this cost to obtain”. And so back to ‘civi’ street, proudly sporting a badge that nobody really recognised....."

I'm guessing that it would stand for volunteer reserve?? If anybody could point me to a picture then that would be great!

Many thanks!!

Thanks Neil,

I spoke to a relative last night and it turns out he was in possession of it!!

It's one of the two on the left.. I guess the middle one since he describes it as white metal.
