Can anyone help with this mystery? I can find the marriage of Jane Cook to George Shaw in 1844 in Chester le Street. Jane was probably born in Lamesley about 1827 ish . I have the births of two daughters Mary Ann in 1845 and Jane in 1848 in Byker Newcastle. In 1851 the two girls are with their grandparents in Lamesley. I have a couple of theories. Either George died andJane remarried bringing the children up with her new husband's name or the family emigrated. I'd really appreciate any help.

George Shaw Jan Q 1850 Newcastle vol 25 page 257.
Cannot find Jane though, either death or census entry.

Hi Larkspur

I suspect the second George Shaw could be the right one died in 1850, well done. I wonder did Jane remarry in 1851 when I can find her two children staying with grandparents? Can't believe the three of them would just disapear.

many thanks,

Christa
