Hi,have just received some new information on the marriage off Hungerford Barrett,my great grandfather x 4.He was married in 1767 in Crudwell,Wiltshire.He marrried a Elizabeth Liddiard by banns and parents consent,the only trouble is that the parents names are not mentioned.How do I find out the parents names,have done some research and found out what might be the names off Elizabeth's parents but cannot be sure that they are right,Hungerford's, have not been able to find out anything them.The only thing we do know about Hungerford was that he was born in Bath,but not the name off the parish,Anyone out there that can help/|help|

You need to locate Hungerford's baptism, followed up with a search of burial records in the area to make sure the one that you found didn't die as an infant. Then you hope to find a Will for the prospective father which will name your fellow and where he lives to tie them in together.

Once you get back in these times before civil registration, it is often all parish register work with little information to go on, and no proof, just circumstantial evidence. Sometimes one can find records about them in other parish records - church minutes, poor relief, etc.

If the bride married with parents consent, one or both of them may have signed as a witness.
