My mother ELIZABETH WILKIE was born 1928 in Glasgow and lived for most of her life in Florence Street, Glasgow. She was apprenticed to a jewish family firm from the age of 14 to learn the trade of a french polisher.
Her mother ALICE WILKIE GRINDLAY nee MADIGAN was a french polisher too but in a conversation I had with my mother before she died "she was a different kind to her". Any idea what she meant by that?
