Geoff Small -RAF WW2

Hello, im looking for any information on this person, he is my great uncle, Uncle to my father Stephen John Butler and Geoff Small was married to A woman Nick named Jo, unmarried surname 'Butler'. I cannot find out much about him apart that he was in the Raf in WW2 and helped build spitfires and lancasters.

The bit 'help to build spitfires and lancasters' doesn't ring right with me. Spitfires were Supermarine planes and Lancasters were Avro's.
He could have been a airframe fitter or similar working in a maintanenece unit where they would repair the planes.
