My ancestor was John LAVERS (or LAVIS) born about 1702 and he is my brick wall.
He married Joan (or Jane) BOND 29 December 1725 in Newton Ferrers. John was buried 15 October 1773 at Newton Ferrers. Joan was born about 1706 and was buried 20 September 1768 at Newton Ferrers. Their children were Elizabeth, Jane, John, Thomas and Mary, all of whom appear in the Newton Ferrers Baptism Register.
I will welcome any help I can get to push through my brick wall.

Best wishes

The IGI has a John LAVERS baptised 9 January 1701 in Yealmpton, Devon, which is just down the road from Newton Ferrers.

Could that entry be a possibility?

Thank you, Jan1954

I now have the baptism register page, which shows "John son of John LAVERS, Woolcomber". He subsequently married the daughter of a Weaver, so that follows.

Now I have his father John LAVERS - my new brickwall.

Many thanks

Alick
