ineed help cannot get any further, trying to find Henry Carter born about
1740ish in hertford hertfordshire, i have looked for him can only find that he got married in 1771 to a Rebecca but cannot find his birth, any help would be very good

Loads of Carters baptised and married in Hertford churches , All Saints and St John, and St. Andrews. Going back to Henry Carter's christening in 1594(father William) Also Carters in Hertingfordbury. (Hugh Wallis site) . Need parish registers to see which were yours. Maybe Hertford library can help?

HALS (http://www.hertsdirect.org/libsleisure/heritage1/HALS/) is the best bet (Hertfordshire Archives and Library Service) unless someone is going out that way soon and could have a rummage in the Parish Records for you.
