Wakefield Academy

[Francis Calvert]

I am looking for information about Wakefield Academy. One of my ancestors a John Calvert(1870-1935) went there sometime in the 1880's. I believe it is now Wakefield independent School but I not sure about this. Can anyone help me with this one?

It doesn't seem to have any relation to the Independent school you mentioned. However, in Googling the name of the school it seems that at least one or two eminent American Founding Fathers attended that same institution in the late 1700s. Interesting. I can't seem to come up with anything else for you though.

Thanks for replying I know that it is no longer in existence as the Academy but I was told that it has had a couple of incarnations since it was called the Academy one of them being the Independent School. But upto now I have no proof of this.
