I have a number of shoe makers in the family one in perticular being a master shoemaker. Thomas Charles of Birdport,Worcestershire. His wife & children were cordwainers, boot closers and all sorts. The other leather worker was an Edwin Blaney he was a Brown Saddler in Warwickshire, not sure what a Brown Saddler is. Robert..

A Brown Saddler made riding saddles as opposed to a Black Saddler who made driving harnesses.

I'm not sure when your family members were active, but Google Books (http://books.google.co.uk/) has a Full View version of Kelly's Directory of the Leather Trades for 1885 (as well as 1880 ). You can search through it on the Website to find someone or, if you want your own copy, download the entire volume as a PDF file (103.7MB).
