FreeBMD has a Dec quarter 1842 marriage page containing both a John Thistlethwaite and a Martha Smith. It's THISTLETHWAITE John Manchester 20 443. That's no guarantee that it was those two that married, but a certificate request for just John Thistlethwaite might be worthwhile. If it's correct, it would give their fathers' names and occupations, and an 1842 address. Beforehand, you might like to check the relevant index images, as there are 5 females on that page when I think there should be only 4.
