A few weeks ago there was a thread concerning breaks in connection, but I can't find the thread.
However the problem is still there - in fact there was one half an hour ago, at 12.57 (midday) to 1.05 local time Central Australia (4.27 am to 4.34 am BST Sunday am), and another about 24 hours earlier.
Presumably these pass unnoticed in the UK at that time of day|snore||snore|
Maybe it is a built in signal that it's time I did something else other that stare at the laptop|scold|.
Was an answer to this problem ever posted?

Me too Michael, I now keep an email from threads & enter the site through that.

It is under investigation by BG - it has been happening at a certain time, possibly during a server backup. We will have to wait until they wake up, and see what has been found out their end. It only last a few minutes. edit - well a little over five and less than ten :)

Hi Wendy,
Can I just confirm with you that if an outage occurs you can still access the thread via the link you have saved even though the data base error appears?

Doesn't work for me - only what my browser has cached. Once I refresh or click a link, then it goes to the error message.

That is what happened to me the first time - I was composing a PM when the outage started, so when I submitted the PM I got the database error. I was able to get back into BG three times using my desktop shortcut, was able to return to my inbox and again get to the reply box and compose my PM as before but out again when press submit. So I was getting cached pages until I tried to do something new.
Christine.

Same experience here Christine. I suspect that is also what happened with Wendy.

That's correct, and sometimes if you time it right, you think that you have posted your message only to find that it doesn't appear on the board - lost in cyberspace - so to avoid problems, all messages that I type are copied to my clipboard before sending, in case the system crashes.

Hello Wendy,
At least it seems to be consistent with the timing.
Bo Peep is looking into it with the techies. Hopefully they can sort it out.

The response from the techies is as follows:-
That time would line up with the daily site backup routine. Because of the amount of data that needs backing up it takes a heavy percentage of server resources.
That answers the question then, as I have been getting error messages about 9:20pm Mountain Time and we are 7 hours behind you. It happened 2 nights running this week already. I just give up and shut down for the night then.:D

Hi Vanessa,
there is often a few on here from your way and the USA too during "the witching hour". Well, it is not even an hour, less than 10 minutes, and at the same time everyday.
Now that I know to expect that it may happen, I will know not to make posts at that time, and if I get chucked out, I'll go make a cuppa or snack.

Must be during your lunch break Ash, or before you sign on for the day, or just whilst you are composing a message or post. Around 1:24pm our time to be precise, for about 7/8 minutes during routine server backup. I do not know if it does it every day.

Strictly speaking I'm logged in for 24 hours a day as I never log out. :D (Daren't, because I haven't a clue what my password is :D:D though I know I can request a reminder/new one.)
Usually only switch the 'puter off when I go to bed or when I'm out of the house.

I have two machines running 24/7 - but they have special purposes. My laptop goes off if I leave the house or at bedtime like you Pam.
I log on and off B-G depending on what I am doing.
