In 1886 Charles Williams was a publican in Woodhouse, near Sheffield. Is there any way I can find out which pub.

Have you found him in 1881 and 1891 censuses? What was he doing then?

In 1881, 1891 and 1901 he was employed in the coal industry, so when he became a publican and for how long, I don't know. I came across this information on my grandmother's birth certificate. Charles was her father. However, on the various census, he is shown as being either a coal miner, or a coal hewer, so I am curious about his tenure as a publican.
