Hi all,
Need more help in sorting out parents of Sarah Cowley,born in Aylton about 1817 and married John Guise 1840, in Worcester.Have found IGI records of a Harriot Cowley,1818, Henry Cowley,1814, and William 1811,all of Aylton, born to William and Ann.Harriot was born to William and Hannah.My question is,could Hannah be Ann? and Harriot be Sarah? As I cannot find anything on Sarah, this is all I can come up with. Also did people have middle names in those days,as I have not came across too many that did, or they were not recorded.Would some one mind looking up the 1841 census for me, as it may shed some light on things.I know for sure her father was William Cowley, as I have the marriage certificate of Sarah and John.
Thank to all,
Rodney Guise.

Hi again,

How is life with you?

okay I have found Sarah on the 1841 Census, with her husband listed as JE Guise, their children Emma aged 3 and Sarah aged 8 months. There is also an 18 year old William Guise, John's brother I presume.

Class: HO107; Piece 1207; Book: 1

I have been unable at this stage to find her father on the 1841 census, any chance he could have died?

on the 1841 census I have found a Harriett and Henry Cowley around the right age, but given that Sarah was married by this stage either it is a conincidence or not the same people.

Class: HO107; Piece 1206; Book: 5;

I hope this has been so some help

Sue

Hi Sue,
Have my doubts.They had a Emma born 1840,then Hudson1842,my 3rd great grandfather.No mention of a Sarah.Marriage certificate quoted their residence as Swinesherd.( may be a name of a farm)Emma was baptised at St Andrews,Pershore.Johns brother was William,born 1806 and John was born 1807.
Rodney.
