Hi, im looking for any info on Richard Speck and jane French, married 1869 stratford Newplymouth Taranaki. i'm trying to find Richards date of arrival from Wiltshire after 1851. as he drops off the census pre 1861 thanks

Am new to this too but was interested in this which is in my area.
A search of Paperspast (http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz) found a death notice for Richard Speck in the Taranaki Herald, 22 Feb 1892, page 2, column 2.
He is described as "Richard Speck (late of H.M. 65th Foot)" and died in hospital in New Plymouth on Feb. 21.
His death certificate would give how long he had been in NZ but as he apparently came with the 65th Regt you might also like to check this book, which could be in your local libary. (The New Plymouth library at Pukeariki has a reference copy.)
