Any help or info to share would be greatly appreciated. Would love to find out more about the Leesons!

Hello Angelcake and welcome to the forum.

It would be a help if we could concentrate on one name at a time. Do they all come from Cumberland?

Please post what you do know about the families so that we are not telling you things that you already know and we will do all that we can to help.

Thanks,

My interest is in the Pritt family, as you can probably guess from my user name :) but I do have a Leeson connection -- from the marriage in December 1896 in Whitehaven between John Leeson (born c1874), son of Andrew Leeson, and Sarah Jane Pritt (born 1874 in Parsonby), daughter of Isaac Pritt and Jane Howe.
Isaac was the elder brother of James Pritt, my great grandfather.
Any good? If so, whilst I don't have much more on the Leeson line (the info I have came from the marriage certificate), I do have more on the Pritt family.

Dear All

Thanks for the info - Sarah Pritt is a bit of a mystery as I am unable to find her exact birth - the name Howe is not a family name though. From Sarah Janes Death certificate she must have been born c 1870 and not 1874 Parsonby - I expect the best thing to do next is get a copy of the following certificate -
Births Jun 1870
Pritt Sarah Whitehaven 10b 591

On her wedding certificate her father is an Issac Pritt and I believe looking into things there are a couple of Issac Pritts about the same time!

Any info much appreciated

Thanks for the info on Fanny Ferguson - she is definatley mine. Strange how names crop up in families down the years without even knowing as my third christian name is Frances!

Now I just have to fit in where are the other names fit into the grand scheme of things!

Regarding Sarah Jane, you'll find that the birth entry is under the family name "PIRT". However, I've got the birth certificate in front of me and can assure you that her mother is given as Jane, formerly Howe. The Pritt/Pirt/Peart variation occurs for some other family members too. I put it down to the accent.
Birth date is 25 March 1874 in Parsonby.

EDIT: you also have a PM about this.

The Sarah Pritt born in 1870 was the daughter of Thomas Pritt and Elizabeth Palmer and died just over a year after her birth (from rubeola and pneumonia if you're interested) in Egremont. Thomas was Isaac's elder brother.
