Hi all, I have discovered that my g-g-g-grandfather was obviously very naughty & I have found him in the 1851 census (Wales) as a prisoner at the County Goal Cardiff!!
He was 21years old at the time. Does anyone know how I can find out what he did? I looked for him on the 1841 Welsh census but he has not come up yet. He was born abt 1829/1830 in Dowlais, Glamorgan.

It's the first bit of scandel I have found in the family - very exciting!

Can anyone please? Is there anyway of finding out on the internet? or do I have to travel somewhere to get the info?

thnx[/FONT]

Hello Miranda,

You may find something at the Glamorgan Records Office. Have a look here: http://www.archivesnetworkwales.info/cgi-bin/anw/search2?coll_id=1912&inst_id=33&term=cardiff%20gaol

You could try...

"Calendars of Prisoners: Quarter Sessions and Assizes"
Reference: Q/S/C/1
Creation dates: 1850-1860

at Glamorgan Record Office.

And no, it won't be on the internet :D
