I'm in the midst of transcribing the burials for St Martin by Looe in Cornwall & have just come across the following entry
22-Dec 1875 George BUNNEY 54 East Looe
Under the entry is a note written in pencil:
(Corpse rested in Church all night Mr Norton forgot the funeral and went to Plymouth instead of Coming to the Church)
Mr Norton was the Curate, & I suspect the addition was a verbal slap on the wrist by the Parish Clerk Mr Henwood.
