An interesting read:

http://www.druvox95.plus.com/Dorset.html

Entitled "extracts from various sources for Dorset" maybe this should have been posted in other than the Doset pages, as the information is possibly of interest to others too, but I wasnt sure where .........(administrators feel free to relocate please)

The above link is to numerous interesting titbits, while about Dorset, there is so much else besides, for example see the index page:

1. - Notes & Queries -item 4 Buryin in linen which has:
"November the 8th, 1678. Was brought unto me as affidavit for ye Buryal of William the Sone of John Turner in Woollen according to ye late act of Parliament for that purpose. ANDREW CALL, Rector.

Apparently the act of parliament was to increase the use of wool for the benefits of the wool trade.

2. Notes & Queries Item 17 Portland Island - Intermarriages.

3. Or even "Some Portland MIs and Burials"

4. Even holiday snaps from the 1930's.

Regretably, while I have read some pages, there is too much for me to take in, if anyone else finds particularly interesting items I would love to know.

Cheers folks

Brian
