Hi

I have posted before but quite a while ago and as it is half-term I have a bit of free time for a change!

I am trying to find out what happened to Daisy Elizabeth LEWIS OR HOWSE.

Born Daisy E. GIBBONS in 1885, Battersea, London

In 1904 she married Isaac Albert LEWIS.

Their 1st child wasn't born till 1912.
Violet Flora LEWIS - 1912
Albert Alfred Philip LEWIS 1915 (both in Wandsworth).

Issac was killed in WW1 (1918)

In 1919 she is living in Ramsgate with Frederick Thomas HOWSE (he had left a wife and 4 children in London!!).

Daisy and Frederick had 2 children:

Daisy Freda Mabel Lewis HOWSE in 1920
Eric Thomas Lewis HOWSE (1921-1922)

On both birth certificates the parents imply that they are married - but I can't find a marriage cert and I have been told that Frederick never got a divorce.

Daisy and Frederick owned a Tea House in Ramsgate and from the rates books they were still there in 1925.

Frederick died in 1926, back up in London, his brother Frank was the informant.
Alfred LEWIS was put into the workhouse in Edmonton in 1926 (died in Hill House, Minster, 1930).
Daisy (daughter) was then bought up by Frederick's sister.

I have searched every combination of HOWSE/HOUSE/HOWES and LEWIS and GIBBONS/GIBBENS for a death or re-marriage - NOTHING.

The only thing I could try is the electrol roles for the address given where Frederick died but that is expensive to do.

I have managed (through hours of work) to trace Frederick's 4 children from his 1st marriage and spoke to his grand-daughter, who unfortunately knew nothing about him.

Can anybody else suggest anything?

Many thanks Juli

Sorry, just searching on Daisy Elizabeth for a death I cannot see her up to 1965.

I always find dates from about 1910 harder to find.

Assuming that this is the Frederick Thomas HOWSE who married Margaret TENNANT in 1900, the surname on his signature in the LMA parish records could be taken for HOWIE. Is this a possibility?

You say that Frederick died 1926, Alfred went into a workhouse, and Daisy was brought up by Freds sister, what about the other children? Violet and Eric, did Daisy keep them, do you think daisy also died around then?
There are deaths for Daisy E lewis much later
Lambeth-1966-aged 82
