I have just received my 2xgrts' marriage cert from 1853, and hope I'm in the right forum here.

Could someone please look for Josiah Claridge, servant, at 1 John Street, Camberwell? I suppose he lived with his employers, but any background for him would be appreciated.

And Mary Myrther (or Merthyr perhaps) at 1 Basinghall Yard, Peckham?

I was just going to add that they were married in Camden Church, Ecclesiastical Parish of Camberwell, when I saw your reply, so that would be the right John Street.

Do you recall if John and Mary Barr, the witnesses, were at either of those addresses?

I had hoped to find something about Mary's family, so I'd know where to go from there. Isn't it great how people appear in London from nowhere? Well, we think from the valleys of Wales in her case, but not sure where.
