Help,

It seems possible to find information on British people who have gone to India but not Indian peole who have come to London so if anyone can give any tips on what I might do to find information on someone I would be grateful.

My great grandfather came to London in about 1900 and then shows up on the 1901 census as being married to Edith Tucker and it shows his place of birth as India his full name was John Balaam Saib (his occupation was travelling haberdasher) I do know his fathers name Woodicken Balaam Saib but thats it. I do know that the ships passenger lists are yet to be put on line so can't look there. So if anyone has any ideas about finding out what part of India he came from (may be the name is from a certain area).

Thanks for listening

Alain

Hi Alain
I am also looking for someone who was Indian, but not of British parents & who came to England at the beginning of the 20thC. I am finding it difficult to find anything about the family, so would be interested to know if you have had any luck.
