I am trying to find some information regarding Basil GOODE who was Mayor of Coventry for 1806 - 1810. IF I have the right guy, he was a jailer for some years then Sheriff of the County of Coventry from 1796-1800 and Alderman thereafter. He died in St Helier around 1842. I am trying to fill in the gaps - parents, for example, wife, siblings, etc. Someone out there must know !

There is a reference to a Basil Goode (Junior) in the True Briton 1798, again in 1798 a mention of a Basil Goode (Junior). Also a bit of a scandal in 1816 and references made to him taking over as Assessor from his father.

Also in another well known newspaper, when he was sentenced he was put in Derby Jail as his son was Keeper of Coventry jail.
