(I don't recognise this name, but I find one married to a
Phillip FREEMAN b Abt. 1595)

Born Abt. 1599 Olney, Buckinghamshire, England
Burial: 14 Sep 1640 Olney, Buckinghamshire, England

Freeman is the name I'm chasing, but Sephery sounds interesting. I did wonder where the name might have begun.

Are there any Sepherys around?

Thanks,

James.

A Google search suggests that the origins of the name Sephery are Iranian.

I also had a look earlier and found the same. Nothing much else was there?

I did look on my 1851 Bucks. for the name, but nothing like it apart from SEGARY or SHAFFERY, which aren't really similar. It obviously looks like a visitor to our shores in the 1600's.

With that timeframe - is Iranian likely? I half wondered if it was possibly something like Jeffrey or similar?

That's exactly what I was thinking! S and J can look very similar in old handwriting.
