Hi Folks,
I have 2 gt uncles who, possibly, joined the Armed forces, about 1900. I was wondering what the chances are of finding any info on them via their local Recruitment Office.
Regards - Anthony

Absolutely none, I'm afraid. By other means, perhaps.

I'd start by reading the appropriate National Archives research guides
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/researchguidesindex.asp

The guides will be listed under "British Army" or "Royal Navy" etc. Where you start reading depends really on how much you know about them.

Give us a shout if it's not clear. Between all of us here, we're reasonably familiar with what's available and how to find it (well, I don't know much about the RN but others do :)

Researching the Imperial Yeomanry is described in this research guide -

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=147&j=1

Series WO 128 at the National Archives sounds good ;)
