General Sir John Owen K.C.B. Royal Artillery Does anyone know anything about this man who would be my third cousin. He was my grandmother’s cousin who gave her away in 1911 at St Mary’s Abbots Church Kensington.
Does anyone know what K.C.B. stands for? Why or how did he get his title Sir? What battles did he fight in? Did he fight in the Boer War and the First World War how did he die? Was he married? Did he have children? Any information would be much appreciated. Regards Joanna

You could start looking for information about him here
http://www.army.mod.uk/rahistoricalsociety/index.htm
There should be something about him in the history of the RA
K.C.B is Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath
More information here

The very first thing I do when I am looking for something on the interenet is use a search engine like Google. It took me ages to get used to doing it but it really is worth trying. That's how I found both these websites. I try with lots of different words and if there are more than one word I put the phrase in inverted commas.
