In my last visit to the Canadian Genealogy Centre website ( http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/index-e.html ) I discovered a link to a new "federated search engine" called "That's My Family" (see http://www.thatsmyfamily.info/Metamoteur/explications_en.html ), developed in partnership between the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) and Library and Archives Canada (LAC). This tool lets you search by name simultaneously across many of Canada's federal and provincial databases containing family history information.

At present, searches are a bit slow and the information available varies dramatically from one province to the next; however, this is definitely a worthwhile development which, as it evolves, will greatly simplify Canadian genealogy research. It can quite be surprising what info you might turn up from provinces where you weren't expecting to find a thing!

That's a great site...I will be spending hours on there..even list WWI court marshalls..still didn't help find the fate of one person I'm searching, but that's an option I hadn't thought of. Thanks for a tip.

Thanks for that interesting site. I searched for Stringle and it found 3. My Stringle family were in London, Ontario. The search engine found a John Stringle in Montreal. I must try and find out more about him.
