Looking for Devon Strays 1851 census-CHAPPLE

Hi everyone,

Trying to track down Charles CHAPPLE, a Shoemaker/Bootmaker in any Directories or census 1851/1861.

He was b.1819 Chittlehampton, Devon
and his wife Jane CHAPPLE, b.1820, South Molton, Devon.

They married in South Molton, DEVON in Sep 1842, then move to Marylebone London by 1871, possibly earlier.

Just wondering whether they 'strayed' or indeed stayed in Surrey a little while on their way through to London.

Any information given, either positive or negative, most gratefully received.

Tried various spellings, but can't find them on the 1851 LDS British Census CD, so presumably they were already on their way by then!

Sorry, should have said the 1851 CD for Devon! However, I presume you would have looked at that already, otherwise you wouldn't have known they were strays.....! :o
