Hi all
My GGGG Grandmother was Dille Marata Jeffes (spelt Jeffs on her marriage cert). She married my 4 x G Grandfather James Sparham in Bardwell, Suffolk on 5.1.1791.
I believe she is of Spanish extract, I have been told that one of the areas that this name is common is Aragon. Marata is attached to Southern Spain.
I also have in my tree a Mary Jeffes b. circa 1738 in Suffolk. Her father was Simon Jeffs (sic) b. c.1718 in West Stow Suffolk. He was married to a Mary (not sure of her DOB) also from West Stow. I cannot link these people (if there is a link).
I would be glad to hear from anyone who may know something of the JEFFES/JEFFS of Suffolk, Norfolk and anywhere else :D
