Hi All.
I am looking for links to my JONES family who lived in Bridgnorth.
GGrandparents were Edward ( born 1850 ) and Mary Ann ( b.1854 ) JONES.
Would like to hear from any descendants of Bridgnorth JONES.
Any information gratefully received..
Dave

Hello Dave,
My 3xgrt.grandfather, George Jones was from Bridgenorth, born late 1700's, there are 2 or 3 in the IGI. I know he ended up in Wolverhampton, married Jane? and had a daughter, Mary Ann. That's all I know I'm afraid.
Agness.

Hi Agness

Thanks for reply but afraid my JONES did not arrive into the BRIDGNORTH area until the 1860s from the Church Stretton area

My gg grandfather Richard Jones (born 1828 Wednesfield) married Sophia Downes (born 1835 Church Stretton) in Bridgnorth in 1855. Richard was a wheelwright and died in Bridgnorth in 1874. His father was also a Richard Jones (a labourer, no other information).

Sophia Downes was living with her parents (Benjamin & Sarah) in Towns End, Bridgnorth in the 1841 census.

They had four children: Alfred Richard Jones, Sophia Jones, Hubert Allen Jones, and Benjamin Downes Jones.

The daughter Sophia married (Robert Young?) and was accidently shot in London. The three sons all moved here to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1904-1911.
