I have a birth registration for my Thomas Tremenick CADDY, born 1844 at Tregurra Downs, parish of St Hilary (Marazion, Penzance) As I cannot actually find a Tregurra Downs, I was wondering if Tregurra was also known by this name at some time. It is clearly written Tregurra, doesn't look like Tregurtha Downs.

Pednangwary is the enumerator's version of Plain-n-Gwarry. I'm not sure he could be trusted to get Tregurtha correct, either.

Thanks for this, I had previously found that transcript piece., but didn't know about the misspelling of Plain-n-Gwarry. My CADDY / TREMENICK couple didn't marry until 1844, so not really sure about how they fit with the CADDY family in this place as yet. My gentleman may have also been known as WILLIAMS earlier on, his mother being Catherine CADDY who had children by her sister's husband. (at the same time as her sister)

Thanks again, ChristineR
