How old is the eldest of his children in 1851 and where was he/she born?

How old was his wife and where was she born?

Could they be at HO107/78/2 f7 p9 in Elm
William LONG, 23 - also at the same address Jane LONG, aged 25 - both born in the county.

It could be that the family was in transit at the time of the census and so missed from it. They might be in a workhouse and only recorded by initials.

When did William marry Mary? Could she have been his second wife and possibly your William be recorded in Soham at:

HO107/73/16
William, 35, ag.lab
Elizabeth, 35
Susanna, 4
William, 9mth

Bearing in mind the inaccuracies of the 1841 census and possibly William telling a white lie about his age if he married a second time??

Of course, if the above couple can be found together in 1851, that would rule them out.
