View Full Version : Attention PayPal users

09-02-2008, 7:19 PM
This morning I received the following email purporting to be from PayPal. They seem to have all the correct logos and colours but it's a fraud. In pasting it, it has lost its original formatting, spacing etc. PayPal always address you by name NOT Dear Member. If you receive this email report it to PayPal and delete immediately...DO NOT REPLY to it.

With the permission of She Who Must Be Obeyed;)

Hello UK,

I've been receiving emails from "PayPal" for years, saying that my account will be suspended. I know that they are hoaxes - I don't have a PayPal account... :D

However, it's handy to know that they address emails to you by name, rather than "Dear Member..."

The link, " Click here etc" is the obvious indicator of any scam.

Cover the link with the mouse and the phoney address is shown at the bottom of the page.

Having said that, ALL such notifications from Banks - Credit Cards - PayPal are scams.. None of the companies send out any such request for account info.

Zap them and move on, the folk who send these out are taking up valuable space on the planet that could be put to better use.

I put a warning out on this one on the 30th of January.

I received one, and automatically deleted it as a matter of course. I get quite a few of these from various sources, and always ignore them, even if I do have an account with any of them.
