One of my wife's ancesters is described as, Game Keeper (Domes). Does this "DOMS" mean domestic.
The census shows a 22 year old woman in the house at that time, not a member of the family, she is decribed as "Servant out of place". I take it this means she was visiting when the census was taken.
Cheers.

What relationship does it give for her? If she was a visitor it should say so. I'm not 100% sure, but could "out of place" mean she was unemployed at the time?

I'm afraid thats all that is said on the census. She is not as far as I know a member of the family, but time will tell with more searching
Cheers.

It means she didn't have a position - i.e. an unemployed servant
