Hi I'm looking for information on my great, great grandfather, John Dixon Scott and his family. I believe he was born about 1825, possibly Old Monkland, but the Censues from 1861 to 1901 provide a number of different locations, including Bothwell. I have not been able to locate him on the 1841 or 1851 Censuses, so I have no clues as to the identity of his parents. He married Elizabeth Kerr, 23rd November 1851, at Bothwell, Lanarkshire. I know of only 3 children:
John (c.1853-?)
David (1857-?)
Elizabeth (c.1861-1921) - who was my great grandmother

The family lived in Bothwell:
Road to Edinburgh (1861)
Cullans Land, Bothwell, (1871)
Bairds Land, Bothwell (1881)
E & G Road, Baird Land, Bothwell (1891)
Sykead, Main Street, Bothwell (1901)

He seems to have been a Carter by trade, although on the marriage certificate of his daughter Elizabeth to Jabez Burt in 1878 he is described as a Storekeepers van driver.

His son John Scott, a pit fireman in 1871, married a Margaret Walker, but I don't know when. The had at least 3 children:
Margaret
Arthur
John William (“Willie”)

As far as I know, David Scott never married. He was a Pupil teacher in 1871 and a Roll turner in 1891.

Does anyone know anything about this family?
