O'sullivans-Nova Scotia

I am trying to find information about my mums Uncle, Charles O'Sullivan born c1897 in Kerry, Ireland. His parents were Charles and Jane O'sullivan nee Adam. Charles snr was born in Galway, Jane was born in Londonderry. The family settled in Cornamona, County Galway.
The only information I have is that he was a sheep farmer in Nova Scotia, and that he had that much land he never got to walk all around it. We also believe he had a son, but no name.
If anyone knows of any O'Sullivans that maybe from the area or how I can get informatio, I would be most grateful.

Hi jacqui:

If you visit the Canada Genealogy Centre (at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/index-e.html ) and enter Charles' name in the "Ancestor Search" box, you'll get information on the microfilm for the ship's manifest of the SS "MONTROYAL" on which he (or someone else of the same name) arrived at Quebec City in 1926. The manifest itself may show where (presumably a specific Nova Scotia town) he was bound after Quebec City. If you can't get the incoming manifest from Library & Archives Canada, you might find the corresponding outgoing one at Ancestors on Board.

Nova Scotia is the only province I've seen who has actually put historic BMD records online, at Nova Scotia Historical Vital Statistics ( https://www.novascotiagenealogy.com/ ); however, I couldn't see any O'Sullivans there and births after 1908 are still too fresh for that site. I suggest you enquire about Charles' possible marriage and children at Vital Statistics, Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations ( http://www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/vstat/ ), who have the more recent civil registration records. Hi Ian

Thank you for replying. since I posted my request for help there has been some doubt as to whether it was Charles that went to Canada. We think it could be another brother. a bit more digging may reveal who went. One of the O'sullivan did go to Canada because my grandmother went over in the late 60s.
